Title Sequence Research

Se7en
·      Montage used to create suspense and curiosity
·      A lot of dissolves used to give a suspicious effect to the montage.
·      The clips used in the montage are hits to what happens later on in the film. They give the audience an idea of what the main protagonist is about. That he is crazy and deluded, maybe obsessive because of the way he’s sewing a book together and colours out peoples faces in photos.

·      The font used for the actors names and any credits given is a kind of scratched font that shakes on a black screen (as seen on screenshot)

·      The music is very low key. The beat continued throughout the title sequence could also represent a beating heart. The pace of the music also alters during the titles sequence, beginning very slowly and getting progressively quick as the titles go on. Until the end where one drum beat signals the end. This drumbeat could also signify the end of someone’s life, ending before the film began, creating codes of enigma in the audiences mind.

·      You can only see one mans hands throughout the sequence; nobody’s face is shown. This creates a sense of horror and unknowingness as the audience doesn’t know who the hands belong to and what they are doing/trying to create.
