The opening title sequence starts off with a close up shot of an old book. The name of the production company comes on in disorientated writing. The writing straight away tell the audience that the film is a horror.

Throughout the opening title sequences of the film the same disorientated writing is used, giving the audience the feel of the film being on edge and a bit abnormal. This also gives the audience sight into the life of a serial killer.

Throughout the opening sequence the serial killer is making entries in his diary alongside clippings from books, self-developed photographs and found images, giving the audience an intimate look into the mind of a serial killer obsessed with religion and attrition.

This image of the film shows the serial killer writing an entry into his diary.

This image is a self-developed photograph entry onto his diary, showing a human from chest up in pain, as if they were being tortured.

It is an extreme close up of a razor blade and a needle. It uses an extreme close up to capture all the detail of the unclean fingernails and shows the blood around his fingers. It also adds a feel of claustrophobia with is being so close up.
